Experience Since being called to the Bar in 2002, Doug has gained a wide variety of experience, particularly in the areas of personal injury and commercial litigation. Recently, Doug's practice has expanded to include family law. Doug has made numerous court appearances in both the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia, including trial experience at both levels. Doug is motivated in the practice of law by a strong sense of duty and professionalism, holding in the highest regard the trust placed in him by his clients. Background Doug was born and raised in the Lower Mainland. He has a diverse array of interests, including athletics, reading, history, music and art. Doug's interest in and knowledge of art led him to volunteer for a period of time at the Vancouver Art Gallery, which he recalls as a very rewarding experience. Education Doug attended law school at the University of Alberta, and then returned to British Columbia to article and practice. Previously, Doug attended the University of British Columbia, where he obtained his B.A. in Arts and later his M.A. in Political Science. Doug feels that a lawyer's education is an ongoing project, and he has continued to take continuing legal education courses and seminars to stay current in important areas of the law, and to benefit from the experience of leading practitioners. Doug has even contributed research assistance to a paper submitted to the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia for its 2002 Personal Injury Conference. Family & Community Doug is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, and the Vancouver Bar Association. He lives in Ladner with his wife, Cheryl, and their three children. |
